Join us as our Head of Financial Planning, Coutts

  • In this role, you’ll be working in the Specialist Community Leadership team to direct the financial planning segment to deliver key objectives across the community
  • Day-to-day, you’ll be using your financial planning expertise to take leadership of financial planners, business plans and target delivery across the balanced business scorecard

What you’ll do

Acting as an ambassador for the specialist community, you’ll promote activities across all markets to drive collaboration in a safe and sustainable way. This includes supporting the delivery of client advice services, as measured by client experience metrics, feedback and engagement.

Not only will you lead the financial planning teams within the specialist community to deliver growth in revenue and assets across all of the Coutts Coverage business, but you’ll line manage and develop direct reports, acting as a mentor to the wider team of specialists.

You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Delivering targets and growing financial planning that’s in line with our purpose
  • Working closely with Client Journeys to provide continuous improvement to our client and colleague experiences when delivering financial planning advice
  • Maintaining an overview of the team and individual performances, analysing trends and developing solutions with relevant client journey teams to provide a seamless service
  • Setting your team’s risk culture through role model behaviour
  • Collaborating with the Head of Specialists to develop and implement business plans and to achieve targets across the balanced business scorecard for financial planning

The skills you’ll need

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a qualification in line with the Financial Conduct Authority Training and Competence handbook, covering advice activities like securities, derivatives and packaged products. As well as this, you’ll have experience of digital channels and adviser toolkits.

You’ll have a CISI level 6 certificate, or equivalent, and a PCIAM qualification. If you don’t have one, you must complete it within the first 12 months. Being a Chartered Financial Planner or having experience in pensions, inheritance tax and investments and protection would be advantageous.

You’ll also need:

  • Commercial experience of managing client-facing teams that provide regulated advice for investment and financial planning products and services in ultra and high-net-worth segments
  • Leadership and influencing skills with a track record of collaboration and improving working relationships with impactful outputs across the balanced business scorecard
  • A good understanding of advice processes when providing financial planning services and the ability to meet financial, service and risk targets within it
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders across different business segments and an awareness and adherence to risk appetites that demonstrate intelligent risk taking
  • The ability to act as our representative in the marketplace and build powerful relationships with internal and external centres of influence
