The Business

We're looking for a Capital Management Associate Director to join us in London

  • You'll be leading the detailed review of pricing for Private Banking, supporting the product teams as required, and also the wider Capital Management mandate, including the overview of the investment backed lending proposition
  • This is an excellent opportunity to join us in our Capital Management function within Commercial & Private Banking (CPB) as Capital Management Associate Director
  • You'll gain lots of scope to lead and own the detailed review of Private Banking (PB) pricing, and support the product team to achieve their objectives

What you'll do

You'll act as a subject matter expert in your area of work and in relation to any project and operating model changes, supporting Front Line teams with complex pricing queries and explaining cost drivers from the balance sheet. You'll support with product training and advocacy, striving to raise awareness and an understanding of the existing proposition and new product launches, and you'll provide strong technical and expertise in support of client facing teams. You'll work with Risk, Finance, Treasury and Analytics to deliver this using both regulatory and Economic Capital lenses, building strong working relationships with colleagues from our team and the wider business in the process.

You'll oversee risk functional teams and Portfolio Strategy to drive the understanding and usage of Economic Capital and Stress testing in business decision making, and support the management of the investment backed lending portfolio through all stages of the product lifecycle. You'll also support the Lending Products Lead in developing the long term product strategy, establishing a sound operating rhythm and an appropriate approach to risk management and own the PB development of pricing tools. You'll review product performance, particularly focusing on the underlying product specifics and addressing any deficiencies as appropriate.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing data analysis to support the team's involvement in thematic and deep dive reviews of our Private Banking portfolio
  • Developing pricing and return tools for use at business level in conjunction with key stakeholders across Coverage, Analytics, Risk, Finance and Treasury
  • Leading the development of client profitability analysis and working with the Data & Analytics team to continuously refine and update the profitability methodology
  • Working closely with senior management to explain the outputs of client profitability and deliver presentations to a wide audience
  • Supporting the wider capital management team in review of discounts for lending products
  • Drafting papers for approval and review at senior governance forums

What else you need to know

We'll be looking to you to have strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proven experience of working in finance, developing and implementing technical solutions to non-technical audiences. You'll have proven experience of relevant policies, regulatory obligations and risk management within Private Banking, and the ability to influence senior executives as well as internal and external stakeholders. You'll also need to have:

  • Well developed commercial acumen and strong project management skills, with a proven ability to deliver through others
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to simplify complex and conflicting tasks and policy propositions
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Basel 3 and Basel 4, including implications for funding, liquidity and capital costs
  • Excellent skills in Excel, SQL, Teradata, Access, PowerPoint and Word
  • Extensive prior experience working in a Private Banking Capital Management function
