Join us on the Isle of Man as an Upstream Risk Manager for RBS International

What you'll do

With a forward looking approach, you'll be working closely with a number of colleagues, stakeholders and functional experts to make sure that the RBSI businesses are prepared for regulatory or legislative changes, and any policy, process, products or people risks that may arise from these. You'll make sure that impacts are considered properly by the right people, and that there's a full understanding and appropriate ownership of compliance and conduct requirements in the impacted areas.

Day-to-day, you'll be:

  • Demonstrating an understanding of how upstream events relate to RBSI, making use of information and resources to effectively assess business and risk impacts
  • Managing an effective framework between first line businesses that may be impacted and second line businesses that undertake the horizon scanning to identify potential new upstream risks
  • Making sure that RBSI ExCo and other key stakeholders are informed of actions and progress relating to upstream risk activity
  • Responsible for making sure that all interactions and hand-offs in the process are managed within agreed deadlines
  • Contributing to a control strategy that effectively underpins the end-to-end business aims across RBSI

The skills you'll need

You'll need to have an understanding of how regulatory, political, reputational and environmental issues impact a complex financial services business. You'll have the ability to analyse and assess material relating to upstream risk and have a general understanding of whether that may impact our businesses.

An International Compliance Association (ICA) certificate or diploma would be useful, but isn't essential.

You'll also have:

  • The ability to deliver to strict and demanding deadlines
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good questioning skills, problem solving skills and attention to detail

What else you need to know

Due to local legislation, you’ll need to possess the right to both live and work on the Isle of Man to undertake this role.
