The Business

We're looking for a Private Banker to join Coutts in Sheffield or Leeds

  • You'll be a trusted adviser to some of the UK’s most successful legal and medical professionals
  • Managing and growing a portfolio of clients who have MCOB-regulated debt with the bank (typically between £750,000 and £2 million), you'll provide an exceptional service to our clients, prospects and business introducers
  • You'll deepen and broaden your relationships with your existing clients in order to introduce other specialist areas of Coutts and RBS

What you'll do

You'll provide exceptional advice across lending and banking products, and will act as a conduit to the full range of wealth management products and services. Identifying opportunities to deliver against wealth management needs, you'll drive high retention and satisfaction, to be measured quantitatively through client survey scores.

In the course of your work, you'll:

  • Make sure we complete and assess of private client reviews accurately and swiftly, including credit fact finds where appropriate
  • Provide first class regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Keep up-to-date with financial markets and macroeconomic news, and be well informed of Coutts' views of markets and asset classes
  • Promote Coutts' image, reputation and credibility in defined priority markets to strengthen and leverage the Coutts brand and build business opportunities from the existing book
  • Coach and mentor less experienced private bankers and private banker assistants

You’ll earn the confidence of your customers with clear expertise in your field and astute advice communicated well. You’ll be an accomplished networker committed to sharing knowledge, and will use critical thinking skills to cut through complexity, and make sound decisions and recommendations.

The skills you'll need

You'll need a relevant qualification in accordance with the FCA Training & Competence handbook, covering the advice activity of regulated mortgage contracts – such as the Certificate of Mortgage Advice & Practice (CeMAP).

We'll also look for:

  • Experience in banking or financial services with a broad understanding and knowledge of financial products and services
  • A high level of relationship, risk and business development skills
  • Proven experience of meeting financial and service targets
  • A track record of developing client relationships
  • Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications
