  • This is an influential opportunity to become a decision maker across key strategic programmes and projects to drive forward our strategy
  • We’ll be asking you to lead the design of medium to long term change for your business area, defining benefits and removing barriers to adoption
  • It's an exciting and varied role, where you'll provide support as a scrum master for design, a chief of staff for your team, and as a delivery and business manager

What you'll do

         

As a Design Manager, you’ll take a leading role in the design of changes which directly contribute to delivering our strategy based on knowledge and understanding of the impact on the bank and the customer experience. You’ll be supporting the manager and business strategy to define the business and customer benefits for each change, while helping to build compelling stories to clearly communicate the strategy and to translate the strategic vision.

Throughout the course of your work, you'll make sure your team have what they need to deliver, and you'll engage with our innovation, marketing and eco teams to get early requirements.

Your role will also involve:

  • Creating and providing clear and concise updates to senior stakeholders on the progress of strategic initiatives
  • Helping to develop the wider strategy through identifying complementary changes and linkages to customer journeys both across and between multiple channels
  • Supporting fixer projects, organising external speakers, providing training and managing our budgets
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships outside of the function to help achieve strategic goals and ensure momentum exists throughout the project or programme life cycle
  • Keeping your expertise up to date through external and internal influences

The skills you'll need


To succeed in this role, you’ll need significant business improvement and change management experience along with the ability to quickly identify issues that may impede delivery and solve them. You'll need a deep understanding of Agile and the ability to balance team needs and budget priorities.

If you also have management and leadership experience, and the ability to act as a mentor, this would be an advantage. What's more important is that you bring the ability to work independently to engage and drive a team.

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Strong stakeholder management experience, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of composing compelling stories that secure sponsorship for strategic changes
  • Experience as a scrum master, Kanban delivery manager or project manager
  • An understanding of supporting UX and general digital processes
  • The ability to form strong connections with people at all levels to support delivery
  • A solid understanding of external market and industry trends
